Ang Minor Basilica and Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Malolos o mas kilala bilang Malolos Cathedral ay isa sa mga kilalang simbahan sa Pilipinas na matatagpuan sa Malolos ang kabisera ng Bulacan. Noong Hunyo 11, 1580, itinatag ni Fray Matheo de Mendoza ang Parokya ng Malolos, na kalaunan ay naging Katedral ng Malolos. The parish dates back to the arrival of Spanish missionaries to Malolos in 1580, and the establishment of an [[Augustinians|Augustinian]] monastery. The first church and convent were built in 1591 of modest means. The congregation was formally established as a parish until 1673, the same year the town of Malolos was incorporated. In 1813, a fire destroyed both the church and convent, and reconstruction was started in 1819. The new church was consecrated by Francisco Alban, bishop of [[Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia|Nueva Segovia]] on 18 October 1826. The earthquakes of 1863 and 1880 both damaged the church, and restorations were undertaken from 1859-1872 and in 1883.<ref name=":0" />

On 10 September 1898, the convent was appropriated by General [[Emilio Aguinaldo]] and used as the presidential palace for the [[First Philippine Republic]]. On 31 March 1899, as they were fleeing from the American army, Aguinaldo ordered Gen. [[Antonio Luna]] to set fire to the complex as part of their [[scorched-earth policy]].<ref name=":0" />

During the [[American occupation of the Philippines]], the church and convent were gradually rebuilt and renovated. A new baptistery was dedicated in 1954, and the roof replaced in 1955-1961.<ref name=":0" />


The church was renovated further in preparation for its designation as a cathedral after the diocese of Malolos was created in 1962. It was consecrated as a cathedral by its second bishop, Rev. Cirilo Almario Jr., in 1976.<ref name=":0" />

From 1990-1992, an [[Eucharistic adoration|adoration]] chapel was built, the baptistery was converted to a mortuary chapel, and a crypt was built beneath the high altar.<ref name=":0" />

Ang Minor Basilica and Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Malolos o mas kilala bilang Malolos Cathedral ay isa sa mga kilalang simbahan sa Pilipinas na matatagpuan sa Malolos ang kabisera ng Bulacan. Noong Hunyo 11, 1580, itinatag ni Fray Matheo de Mendoza ang Parokya ng Malolos, na kalaunan ay naging Katedral ng Malolos. Ang kasalukuyang katedral ay hango sa disenyo ng Romanesque Revival of Neo-Romanesque style.[1][2]

Ang Katedral ay ang nagsilbing Palasyo ng Malakanyang ni Emilio Aguinaldo sa panahon ng Unang Republika ng Pilipinas simula noong ika-15 ng Setyembre taong 1898 hanggang ika-31 ng Marso taong 1899. Naging opisina ni Aguinaldo ang kumbento ng simbahan.[3]


Noong kasagsagan ng labanan ng Pilipinas at Amerika ay nag pasiya ang mga Amerikano na lusubin ang bayan ng Malolos upang talunin ang mga sundalong naroroon at para masakop ang bayan. Sa kabilang banda naman ay bago makarating ang mga Amerikano ay tumakas na si Aguinaldo kasama ang mga tauhan nito at inutos kay Heneral Antonio Luna na sunugin ang Malolos, upang lahat ng kanilang naiwan na mga estratehiya laban sa mga Amerikano ay mawalan ng saysay sa mga Amerikano.[4]
