"Si P. Rafael Canlapan ay isang tunay na makabayan. Naging koadhutor sa parokya ng Malulos mula noong 1874 hanggang 1892, naging katulong sa pagpapalaganap ng mga aral ni Plaridel at inilipat sa Imus, Kabite, noong 1892 dahil sa pagiging kalaban ng mga Kastila."[1]
Nakatala si P. Canlapan bilang isa sa mga pari sa Malulos sa aklat na Historia de la Santa Iglesia Metropolitana de Filipinas noong 1876. [2]
