Mestizo District

One of the most fantasized and visited places or structures here in Malolos Bulacan is the Mestizo District or, in another term, "Malolos' Kamestisuhan." It is near the Malolos Cathedral at 4 Pariancillo St., Sto. Nino, Malolos City, Bulacan. The Mestizo District is known because of its close rivalry with Vigan's Mestizo District as a heritage site and a historical place in the Philippines.

Malolos district is also famous for its other name, "Mestizo District," because it is located near the town's ancestral houses where the colonization of the Spaniards that Emilio Aguinaldo established was witnessed by those who were still living at that time. Mestizo District is one of the oldest structures to see what the Spanish colonial era made us into what we are right now. It also became the office of the First Republic from September 10, 1898, to March 10, 1901.

Until now, Mestizo District still holds on to its history but is now named "MERALCO." While the Spanish colonial era demolished many structures, Mestizo District is still in good condition. MERALCO took place in the Malolos structure that currently exists.

Mestizo District played an important role in becoming one of the most vital forms of witness for our country under the colonialism of the Spaniards and as one of the historical heritage sites that became the establishment of the First Republic of the Philippines by the constitutional convention of 1898. We need to preserve what is still present and the memories of the past, whether they relate to our culture or not. Heritage sites that play essential roles in our history must be preserved.
